The AKC Field Trial dogs are entered in Stakes. Dogs entered in a stake are run in pairs which is called a brace. Each dog in a stake is competing against every other dogs entered in that stake for First thru Forth palce. Field trials are much more varied than hunting test as there are many stakes which a dog can be entered.
